Each semester, ESS hires undergraduate seniors and graduate students within each engineering discipline to provide tutoring for each subject.
Schedules are posted at the beginning of the semester and include days, times and locations of every tutoring session.
Mentoring, Academic Success and Career Development Workshops
ESS collaborates closely with UNM's office of Career Services to prepare students to meet with company representatives who seek to hire students for summer internships. Workshops are available to assist students in preparation for industry career visits (including the annual Engineering & Science Career Fair held each Fall semester).
Many of the workshop topics include: resume rescue, mock interview sessions, how to work a career fair, technical interviewing skills, etc.
Student Organization Support/Leadership Development
ESS works closely with several UNM chartered student organizations. Involvement in a student organization offers students the opportunity to develop strong leadership skills, travel to career conferences, participate in community outreach programs, network with industry leaders, and qualify for private industry scholarships & awards.
Some of the student organizations include:
- Society of Women Engineers
- Hispanic Engineering & Science Organization
- National Society of Black Engineers
- American Indian Science & Engineering Society,
- Engineers Without Borders
- Tau Beta Pi
