Eligibility will be extended to: 

  1. Undergraduate seniors
  2. Applicants with no more than B.S. or B.A. degrees who are not enrolled in graduate school
  3. First-year graduate students (M.S. degree or Ph.D. students without an M.S. degree)
  4. Enrolled M.S. degree students beyond their first year provided that they plan full-time, uninterrupted study toward a Ph.D. at: 1) a different academic institution, OR 2) in a different academic department
  5. Applicants with no more than M.S. degrees who are not currently enrolled AND who will not have been enrolled in graduate school for two years prior to resuming graduate studies
  6. First-year Ph.D. students with an M.S. degree provided that they 1) completed the M.S. degree within two years at a different academic institution, 2) completed the M.S. degree within two years in a different academic department, OR 3) prior to current enrollment, they had not been enrolled in graduate school for at least two years

Space Telescope Science Institute Summer ProgramJanuary 31The Space Astronomy Summer Program primarily serves college undergraduates from the U.S. and other countries between their junior and senior years. We also accept exceptional undergraduate students in earlier years and beginning graduate students.

NM Space Grant Undergraduate Research ScholarshipApril 13Undergrad

These awards fund students to work on research at the level of $5,000 for two academic semesters. 

Eligibility: 

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Full-time enrollment during award period (minimum of 12 credit hours/semester) 
  • Major in STEM field 
  • Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA  
NM Space Grant Graduate Research FellowshipApril 13Grad

Scholarships are competitively awarded based on application information including research project, its alignment to NASA, faculty letter of recommendation and GPA. $10,000 is awarded for two academic semesters. 

Eligibility: 

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Full-time enrollment during award period (minimum of 9 credit hours/semester) 
  • Major in STEM field 
  • Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA 

Requirements:

  • Must be working on a research project of interest to NASA's mission directorates. 
  • Must have a faculty advisor
  • Must present research results at the Annual Virtual Student Research Colloquium
  • Must complete 10 hours of community service 
  • Must notify NMSGC if ineligible 
  • Provide a short-video testimonial if requested by NMSGC office
