InternshipFlyerThe UNM School of Engineering, Engineering Student Success (ESS) Center is committed to providing our engineering and computer science students opportunities to help them succeed.  Once such resources we provide our students is help finding internship and job opportunities with local and national engineering companies. We also offer internship opportunities for our international students.

Our internship programs have allowed many of our partner companies to transition our students from interns ro part-time or full-time employees.  We also keep our students notified about current job opportunities which they can apply for directly.

Our aim is to provide our engineering and computer science students opportunities allowing them to gain field experience to help them grow professionally. As an added service, we collaborate with UNM Career Services in providing professional development workshops to help with building skills that pertain to career exploration, planning, and enrichment.

Engineering companies and agencies interested in hosting Engineering and/or Computer Science students as interns, or as full-time or part-time employees, please complete the Company Information Form and submit to esscareers@unm.edu or to nabdelha@unm.edu

Companies interested in hosting student interns through the SPSP Internship Program, please complete the Company Description Form and the Company Agreement Form and return to nabdelha@unm.edu 

Students who are looking for summer internships, please complete the Summer Internship Form and submit to esscareers@unm.edu. We will add your name to a list of students who are interested in being notified about internship opportunities. 

UNM School of Engineering provides a limited number of co-op internship opportunities during the fall and spring semesters for students who meet the eligibility requirements.  The aim of the program is to provide students the opportunity to supplement their learning through field experience.  Local, privately owned, participating engineering companies agree to host engineering and/or computer science students for 12 weeks or 180 internship hours.  Participating student interns receive a stipend paid by UNM and the host company. The program is not available during the summer term.

Eligibility

For the Career Development Program (SOE CD), a host company will commit to allowing an international student intern to participate 8 weeks. UNM will contribute towards the student intern's stipend payment for participation up to 4 weeks. The host company must pay the student for the remaining 4 weeks of participation. Student must be a member of a federally recognized American Indian tribe or Alaska Native to participate in this internship program.  Student must be admitted to the School of Engineering and his/her department OR to teh Anderson School of Management.  Student must be a junior or senior (must have completes all sophomore courses).  Ans, student must demonstrate academic ability and NOT be on academic probation.
